Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 27, 2026
We do NOT sell your personal data. Ever.
Resonance ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Resonance dating app.
Information We Collect
Account Information
Name, age, email address, profile photos, bio text, gender, preferences, and collector questions you provide during registration.
Location Data
GPS coordinates collected while the app is in use to enable the fragment drop and collection system. Your precise location is used to place photo fragments and detect when you are near collectible fragments. Location is only tracked while the app is active in the foreground.
Usage Data
In-app activity such as fragments collected, challenges completed, matches made, and messages sent. This data is used to operate core app features.
Device Information
Device type, operating system, and app version for troubleshooting and compatibility purposes.
Photos
Profile photos you upload are stored securely in Firebase Storage. Blurred photo fragments derived from your photos are stored temporarily and expire after 30 days.
Camera & Photo Library Access
The app may request access to your device camera and photo library so you can choose or capture profile photos. Photos are only uploaded to our servers when you explicitly select or take one for your profile; the app does not capture or transmit images in the background.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To operate the fragment-based matching system
- To display blurred photo shards on the map for other users to discover
- To facilitate challenge flows and chat between matched users
- To send notifications about matches, challenges, and messages
- To enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines
- To improve app performance and user experience
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations
Information Sharing
We do NOT sell your personal data.
Your information is shared only in the following limited circumstances:
- With other users: Your name, age, photos (as blurred fragments and upon match unlocking), bio, and collector question responses are visible to other users as part of the matching process.
- Service providers: We use Firebase (Google) for authentication, data storage, and hosting. Your data is processed through these services under their respective privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Resonance, our users, or the public.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored using Firebase services (Firestore database and Firebase Storage) with encryption in transit and at rest. We implement reasonable security measures but cannot guarantee absolute security. Profile photos and photo fragments are stored as files in Firebase Storage; profile metadata is stored in Firestore.
Data Retention
- Profile data is retained as long as your account is active
- Photo fragments expire and are automatically deleted after 30 days
- Chat messages are retained as long as both users' accounts are active
- When you delete your account, your profile data, photos, fragments, and chat history are permanently deleted within 30 days

- Delete your account and all associated data
- Opt out of push notifications through device settings
- Request a copy of your data by contacting resonance.support.1975@gmail.com

Location Privacy
Your precise GPS coordinates are used to drop and collect photo fragments. We do NOT:
- Share your exact location with other users (fragment locations have a randomized offset)
- Track your location when the app is not in use
- Build persistent movement profiles or location histories
- Sell or share location data with advertisers or data brokers
Location updates are throttled to minimize unnecessary data collection.
Children's Privacy
Resonance is strictly for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will promptly delete the account and all associated data.
